OSI Layer 8

The Human Layer

The OSI model defines 7 layers of network communication.
Layer 8 is the human — the one above the application layer.
It's not a bug. It's an API.

Layer 8 Human / Emotional

The human emotion layer that operates above the application layer. Behavioral telemetry, emotional inference, contextual intervention. This is where clicks become emotions, hesitation becomes signals, and Layer 7 finally understands WHY users do what they do.

Protocol: EITP (Emotional Intelligence Transfer Protocol) · Mouse micro-tremors · Financing anxiety detection · Abandonment risk signals
Layer 7 Application

HTTP, HTTPS, WebSocket, SMTP, FTP, DNS. Your entire SaaS stack lives here. Everything you build lives at Layer 7.

Examples: Web browsers, REST APIs, GraphQL, email clients
Layer 5-6 Session & Presentation

Connection management, data formatting (JSON, XML, protobuf), encryption (TLS/SSL), compression.

Examples: TLS/SSL, session tokens, JWT, data serialization
Layer 4 Transport

TCP/UDP. Error correction, flow control, reliable delivery. Ensures data gets from point A to point B intact.

Examples: TCP (reliable), UDP (fast), port numbers (80, 443, 3000)
Layer 3 Network

IP addresses, routing, packet forwarding. How data finds its way across the internet.

Examples: IPv4, IPv6, routers, subnets, CIDR notation
Layer 1-2 Physical & Data Link

Cables, switches, MAC addresses, Wi-Fi. The literal wires and network interfaces that move bits.

Examples: Ethernet cables, Wi-Fi routers, network cards, switches

Layer 8 is Infrastructure

We're building EITP — the Emotional Intelligence Transfer Protocol.
Not a chat widget. Not analytics. Infrastructure for reading humans.
